Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 12, 2026

The Way – Trivia is a Bible trivia game (part of The Way Games) you can play on the web or on a TV at a participating venue. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the game and its leaderboards. We do not sell your data, we do not use advertising trackers, and we do not run third-party analytics. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect and why.

Who we are

The Way Games (“we,” “us”) operates The Way – Trivia at thewaygames.com (and, when the multi-game hub launches, at trivia.thewaygames.com) and its companion TV apps. You can reach us any time at contact@thewaygames.com.

What we collect

If you play trivia

If you register or manage a venue

TV pairing

When you connect a TV using a pairing code, the code and its status (waiting, paired, or revoked) are stored so the TV can display your venue’s game. The paired venue is remembered on that TV’s local storage so it does not have to be re-entered on every restart.

Automatically

Our hosting provider processes standard technical information (such as your IP address) needed to deliver the site securely and to limit abuse — for example, rate-limiting sign-ups and pairing attempts. We use Cloudflare Turnstile on the venue sign-up form to tell humans from bots; it is designed to work without tracking you across sites.

Stored on your device

The game uses your browser’s local storage (not advertising cookies) for functional things like your display name, anonymous player id, live-night reclaim codes, your paired venue, your personal-best scores, your Bible-reader preferences, and venue-management access if you are an owner. You can clear this at any time from your browser or device settings; doing so simply signs you out and forgets your preferences on that device.

Third-party services we use

These providers process only what is needed to perform their function. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

How long we keep it

Leaderboard entries and venue records are kept while they are in use. Venue owners can reset their leaderboards at any time, and a deleted venue has its records — including its scores and TV pairing codes — removed. Rate-limiting and one-time sign-in codes expire automatically.

Requests (access, correction, deletion)

Email contact@thewaygames.com to request correction or deletion of a display name on a leaderboard, or help with a venue you own. We aim to acknowledge within two business days and complete clear requests within 30 days. Venue owners can also delete their own venue or reset boards from the venue admin tools without waiting on us. Clearing site data in your browser or TV app removes the data stored only on that device (display name cache, reclaim codes, local preferences).

Children

The Way – Trivia is a family-friendly, general-audience game. People of many ages may play at a church or venue night, but the Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Players are not asked for a real name, email, or photo — only an optional display name for the scoreboard. We encourage everyone — especially younger players — not to use their real name. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices

Do we sell your information?

No. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. We use service providers only to run the Service (hosting, sign-in, transactional email, Bible text, QR images), as listed above.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at this address.
